Maybe he was Just getting deep into character???

David Duchovny has entered a rehabilitation facility for sex addiction.

In a statement released by his lawyer, Stanton Stein, the actor said he did so voluntarily, adding: "I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."

The actor's publicist, Flo Grace, confirmed the rehab report, which first appeared on People.com.

She and Stein both declined to elaborate further.

Duchovny, 48, plays a sex-obsessed character on the Showtime television series Californication, which earned Emmy nominations for casting and cinematography. The show's second season begins September 28.

Showtime had no comment on Thursday.

The actor appeared in the film The X Files: I Want to Believe earlier this year. He has been married to actress Tea Leoni since 1997. They have two children.

It's possible. Sometimes an actor does such a good job at portraying a character that they have a difficult time come out from the world they've been in. It's no surprise that Mr Duchovny has had to get help. The good thing is that HE realized there was a problem and tried to get it dealt with, instead of friends having to stage an intervention on his behalf.

I was thinking the same thing. It is never a bad thing to ask for help.

I often wonder if the fantasy world of acting has a detrimental effect on these actors. The glam and glitz of being a star is one thing but I wonder how deeply these people drift into characters they play or how much of each character they play they keep. You know a little like.. oh I like this in this character and that in that character maybe I will keep those personality aspects? The ability to act well is a gift but could also be a curse in a personality that isnt properly geared to deal with it. I havent seen the show californication and don't know anyting of the character he played but maybe Duchovny liked the ability to be a "sexual god" so to speak and adapted it into his personal life. Sad if thats the case but certainly wouldnt be the first actor to do it.

Mark Priestley who I mentioned in my previous post is a good example of how human actors are. We tend to forget that when we see them on screen in character. We never know what they are rreally going through because everytime a camera is in front of them they are in character. Some are better at making that character look completely natural than others.
